For this holiday season, put a ballerina in someone’s stocking.
Redondo Ballet Company of Redondo Beach has the perfect stocking-stuffer gift idea – tickets to its winter production of Snow Queen. Featuring local South Bay ballerinas, it is a delightful story for the whole family with amazing sets, beautiful costumes and gorgeous music that will keep you in the festive spirit well after the holidays.
The show is Saturday, Feb. 16, and it takes place at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center.
Snow Queen is loosely based on Hans Christian Andersen’s Snow Queen. HCA’s Snow Queen is also the foundation story for Disney’s Frozen. In the story, two longtime friends, Rudie and Pearl, are playing on a summer’s day. The Snow Queen, who is jealous of their friendship, kidnaps Pearl.
Rudie embarks on a magical adventure to find his friend. The journey takes him through enchanted gardens where flowers and birds come to life, and where horses, mermaids and reindeer dance. Rudie’s odyssey also takes him to the jungle and the desert, and where summer turns to winter and pirates save the day.
This is a production not to be missed!
It is one of two major annual productions put on by Redondo Ballet Company. The other is Through The Pages, a series of fairy tales brought to life, each October.
Snow Queen is a unique gift that will result in those receiving it having visions of ballerinas dancing in their heads from the holidays until the day of the show. It is the perfect stocking-stuffer gift idea for the South Bay.
