Redondo Ballet has just returned from an all expenses paid trip to Belize, where they took their philanthropic program, Ballet in a Box, and performed in several genres, at the Dance X Festival.

First stop… the television studios, where directors, Francesca Stern and Donna Perkins, along with some of the Redondo Ballet members, were interviewed on Channel 5’s “Open your Eyes” morning show, and leading television station, Love TV’s morning show. This was a great experience and an amazing opportunity to promote and share their Ballet in a Box venture. Watch an interview here

Next it was time to knuckle down to the job at hand. Working with local dance school Precision & Style, our teachers and dancers got busy teaching choreography, sharing costumes and getting ready for the Ballet in a Box performance of Lost Boys.

And what a performance it was! The girls danced beautifully and we were so impressed with the level of team work and comradery exhibited by all the performers who took part. A backstage visit from US ambassador to Belize, Adrienne M.Galanek, was the icing on the cake!

Our dancers went on to perform several of their numbers in a variety of genres, throughout the Friday and Saturday night Dance X festival shows. Their performances were fantastic and we are immensely proud of each and every one of them. You can check out their performances on our Instagram page here.

In between shows, the company visited the island of Caye Caulker by boat; a beautiful part of the world where there are no roads or cars just dust tracks and golf buggies – a bit of a change from Redondo Beach! Here they got to pet stingray and sharks!

A final day to sightsee and the girls got to visit the Mayan ruins!

Followed by spot of cave tubing and a jungle stroll amongst the Howler monkeys.

What an amazing adventure…we can’t wait to see what’s next in store!
